Michigan human trafficking statistics

Infogram Human trafficking has been happening around the globe for many years and according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline , from 2007 to June 2017 943 human trafficking cases have been reported in Michigan. 136 of those cases were reported this year. Trafficking is a modern slavery that often involves a person being taken unwillingly or held captive with minimum food, labor with no pay, and sometimes sexual abuse. From the 136 cases actually reported in Michigan: 120 of those victims were females, 14 were male and less than 3 were gender minorities. The most likely type of trafficking found was sex trafficking, with 109 cases, which sounds very accurate being that Michigan was ranked number two in the nation for human trafficking sex trade in 2015.
